Scott R. " Toad " Welch, age 64, of Monmouth, Illinois passed away at 11:35 pm on Friday April 6, 2018 at the OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg, Illinois. Scott was born on April 2, 1954 in Monmouth, Illinois and is the son of Kenneth L. and Alice Senders Welch. He was reared and educated in the Little York area where he attended Yorkwood High School and graduated from Warren High School with the class of 1972. Scott was previously married to Lisa Taylor. Scott began work as an over-the-road trucker for Munson Trucking in Monmouth. He then drove a truck for Chandler Trucking, and later for Stevenson Excavating Company in Galesburg, Illinois. Scott then was employed by Van Kampen Trucking of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Currently Scott was working for Andy Hall in Little York, Illinois. Scotts main interest was in his driving and being known for as a long haul trucker.
Surviving him are two daughters, Kay Welch and her significant other, Kyle Dawkins of Clay City, Illinois and Shelby Gates and Ian of Johnsonville, Illinois. There are three grandchildren, Kolton and Karsyn Dawkins and Penelope Gates. There are two sisters, Mary Alice Welch of Jersey Shore, Pennsylvania, and Becky Murphy Stalcup and Gene of Jonesboro, Arkansas. There are two brothers, Robert Welch and Mary Jo of Wilmington, North Carolina, and John Welch and Pam of Wayne, Oklahoma. Also thirteen Nieces and Nephews are also surviving. Scott is preceded in his death by his parents, one brother Michael, and his nephew, Christopher.
Cremation rites are being accorded and his family is planning a "Celebration of his life " on Sunday May 6th" from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the American Legion Post 136 of Monmouth, Illinois. Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois is in charge of the local arrangements. Memorial fund contributions may be made to either St.Judes Children's Hospitals or the Illinois Cancer Care. The family wishes to extend our heartfelt debt of gratitude to Rhonda Birditt, (significant other, Maggie Reimolds and Erica Smith for their unwavering love. devotion and care of Scott during his time here on earth. Your actions are an example for each of us and for that, we are eternally grateful.
