Wendell L. "Wendy" Sage, age 58, of Monmouth, Illinois, passed away at 1:46 A.M. on Sunday, April 1, 2018 at his residence. He was born in Monmouth, Illinois, the son of Wendell and Betty (Pyles) Sage. Wendell was educated in the Stronghurst and Monmouth School Districts. He was a veteran, proudly serving his Country in the United States Army. On November 23, 1988, he married Shirley McMahill. Wendell worked as an over the road driver for several companies in the area. He also worked for Wells Pet Food as a driver. From 1999-2008, he traveled with the carnival Blue Grass Shows. Wendell loved his family and friends and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone that needed help. Wendell is survived by his mother, Betty Campbell of Monmouth, IL, one daughter, Celia M. Sage of Monmouth, IL, two grandchildren; Spencer Sage and Lillie Nance, three sisters; Janice Medrano of Florida,Dusty Hoopes of Monmouth, IL, and Angie Hoopes of Monmouth, IL, five brothers; Tom (Sandy) Sage, Jack Sage, Sr., Mike (Kay) Sage, Greg Sage, and John Sage, all of Monmouth, IL, and numerous nieces and nephews which is treasured. He is also survived by a large number of special friends. He is preceded in death by his father and one brother, Ike White.
Wendell's family will be present to greet friends from 10:00-11:00 A.M. prior to the service at the funeral home.
A memorial service is planned for 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois. A memorial is being established for Hospice Compassus of Galesburg, Illinois.
